Firstly, let me introduce myself.
My name is ?
I am a student paramedic in ?Town with ?Ambulance Service. I am based at ?ambulance station.
The reason for all these silly question marks? On my very first week at ?University, we were told that blogging, Tweeting, Facebooking, MySpacing or Tumbling about the job is strictly prohibited by AS (?Ambulance Service), no matter what.
Regardless of confidentiality agreements or anything like that, it is strictly prohibited.
I am by no means a rebellious person. I respect my employers and my lecturers and I would never put my dream job at risk. But when I wanted to apply for the position I hold now, I found it really helpful reading blogs. UK Medic 999, Insomniac Medic, Siren Voices and The Happy Medic were (still are) great blogs. There are hundreds of others. But what is limited is the selection of students' blogs. There were a couple which were fantastic, but not a lot from start to finish. Those who did start writing on their first day of the course were forced to stop blogging for various reasons.
My aim is to remain totally, 100% anonymous and to totally, 100% protect the identity of my patients, colleagues, service, area, town and university. At the same time though, I want to give prospective paramedics and anyone else who is interested a realistic insight into the life of a student paramedic, to registration and beyond!
Thank you for joining me. Enjoy!
